Amalia grew up in the Willamette Valley, and started her career by earning a BS in Human Development and Family Services from Oregon State University. She spent a year in AmeriCorps working with disadvantaged children, then worked on the intensive care team at the Looking Glass Counseling Program in Eugene, while earning a Master’s of Social Work from Portland State University in 2014. Amalia is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), and has worked in the Eugene community providing counseling in various settings over the years including in palliative care, working at White Bird, PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Hospital, and in private practice.

Fascinated by how trauma is stored in the body, Amalia went on to study somatic mindfulness therapies, such as Hakomi and EMDR, and also trained as a yoga teacher. In 2020 Amalia completed the massage therapy program at Lane Community College. Her massage therapy training is based in Swedish, and she continues to build her skills by studying craniosacral, myofascial, and lymphatic massage. Amalia is very excited to work as part of the Tensegrity team utilizing her massage skills. She continues to work part time at counseling in her private practice. In her free time, Amalia enjoys many artistic hobbies as well as dance, yoga, and running.
